The lab is newly founded, which means early members shape its direction rather than inherit it. You would work on problems in robot interaction safety that are genuinely open, with the hardware and the freedom to pursue them. We care more about how you think than about what you have already published.

We are currently recruiting postdoctoral researchers, PhD students, master's students, undergraduate researchers, research assistants, and visiting scholars. 我们正在招收博士后、博士研究生、硕士研究生、本科生、研究助理与访问学者。

- 一段简短说明：你想做什么方向，以及为什么。 写清楚想法即可，不必追求篇幅。 关于研究理解的部分，建议用你自己的话写 —— AI 生成的文字其实一眼就能看出来。
- 总成绩（GPA）与专业排名情况，不需要成绩单原件。 我本人不依据这一条筛选人， 主要是用于评估能否通过学校划定的标准线。
- 如果申请研究助理（实习）， 请在邮件中注明实习的起止时间。
- 如果你是本科生或实习生， 请说明每周能在实验室投入的时间（小时）。
- 可选：代码、项目，或任何你做过的东西的链接。

What to send
- Curriculum vitae, including publications and relevant coursework.
- A short statement of what you want to work on and why. Being clear matters more than being long. On the research side, please write it in your own words — text that reads as AI-generated is easy to spot.
- Your overall GPA and class ranking; no official transcript needed. I do not screen on this myself. It is there to check whether you would clear the university's own threshold.
- If you are applying as a research assistant (intern), state the start and end dates of the internship in your email.
- If you are an undergraduate or an intern, state how many hours per week you can spend in the lab.
- Optional: links to code, projects, or anything you have built.

Frequently Asked Questions 常见问题
我本科/硕士就读于其他院校，可以投递简历吗？
可以。硕士与博士的招生都要经过学校的既定流程进行初筛，在双方彼此认可、且你能通过 学校划定的标准线的前提下，我们欢迎任何院校的同学投递。
我还没有相关方向的一作论文，可以申请吗？
可以。做事的态度、对问题的灵性，以及扎实的基础，在我们看来同样重要 —— 某种程度上，可能比论文更重要。
来实习的同学有房租补贴吗？
有。
需要有机器人背景才能申请吗？
不需要。实验室处在生物力学、传感、控制与学习的交叉处，这几个方向的背景都用得上。 更重要的是你能写代码、思考严谨，并且愿意和真实硬件打交道。
博士生什么时候招生？
博士招生统一走复旦大学的招生流程，有其固定的时间节点与材料要求。建议在正式申请前 先与 PI 联系 —— 提前聊过，我们能帮上的会多很多。
可以远程实习或访问吗？
我们大部分工作需要接触真实机器人，因此远程的空间有限。偏计算的课题有时可以远程推进， 具体可以来问。
实验室是新建的，这对我来说是风险吗？
这确实是一个需要如实权衡的取舍。你会得到更多 PI 的时间、对研究方向更大的话语权， 以及对课题真正的主导权；同时也要面对尚在搭建中的基础设施，和更少的高年级同学可供 请教。早期成员塑造实验室的样子。
I did my bachelor's or master's elsewhere — can I still apply?
Yes. Master’s and PhD admissions both run through the university’s established screening process. As long as there is mutual interest and you can clear the university’s bar, we welcome applications from any institution.
I don't have a first-author paper in this area yet. Can I apply?
Yes. Your attitude toward the work, your instinct for problems, and a solid foundation matter just as much to us — arguably more than publications.
Is there a housing subsidy for interns?
Yes.
Do I need a robotics background to apply?
No. The lab sits between biomechanics, sensing, control, and learning, and useful backgrounds come from all of them. What matters is that you can program, reason carefully, and are willing to work with real hardware.
When are PhD students admitted?
PhD admission runs through Fudan University’s central process, which has its own timeline and requirements. Write to the PI before applying — it is much easier to help if we have talked first.
Can I visit or intern remotely?
Most of our work involves physical robots, so remote arrangements are limited. Projects that are primarily computational can sometimes be done remotely; ask.
The lab is new. Is that a risk for me?
It is a real trade-off, and worth being honest about. You get more of the PI’s time, more say in what gets worked on, and more ownership of directions. You also get less established infrastructure and fewer senior students to learn from. Early members shape the lab.
